Atlanta Hawks Release NBA Champion Point Guard

On Thursday evening, the Atlanta Hawks will face off against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center in New York.

Before the game, the team announced that they had waived Patty Mills.

The 2014 NBA Champion had been averaging 2.7 points and 1.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 37.3% from the field and 38.2% from the three-point range in 19 games.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported what the Hawks will do with their open roster spot.

Via Charania: "Hawks plan to use open roster spot to convert two-way guard Trent Forrest on a standard NBA contract, per league sources. Forrest has played 20 games this season, his second in Atlanta after being in Utah from 2020-22."
