Austin Reaves‘ agent has issued a statement after a rumor said the Los Angeles Lakers guard doesn’t like playing with Luka Doncic

Reaves is represented by Aaron Reilly.

“Austin has nothing but the utmost respect for Luka and truly enjoys playing alongside him. Any suggestion to the contrary is completely false. He’s excited to be on the court with Luka—both now and in the future.”

The Lakers acquired Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists with LA in the regular season and 30.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists in the 2025 playoffs.

The Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games.

Doncic can sign a contract extension with the Lakers on August 2 for as much as four years and $229 million. The superstar can also agree to a two-year extension to get him to 10 years of service in the summer of 2028, when he could sign a five-year max contract at 35% of the salary cap to maximize his earnings.

Reaves declined an extension offer from the Lakers because he can make more money next offseason. He wants to spend his entire career in LA.

Reaves averaged 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 73 games last season while shooting 46.0% from the field, 37.7% from 3 and 87.7% from the foul line. He’s one of the best undrafted players in NBA history.

Reaves played through a serious toe injury in the Minnesota series, which is why his numbers dropped. The guard averaged 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
