Ayo Dosunmu announces he has formed his own AAU basketball team
Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bulls’ promising guard Ayo Dosunmu continues his advocacy of helping young kids in his community with the establishment of his own (Amateur Athletic Union) AAU team called Ayo Dos Elite. The team will cater to players between the ages of 12 and 14.

AAU played a pivotal part in Dosunmu’s development

While AAU basketball has garnered both positive and negative criticisms, it cannot be denied that it has played a significant role in the development of NBA players. Dosunmu did not shy away from acknowledging the importance of his AAU experience.

“Many of you know that AAU played a pivotal part in my basketball career, so now that I’m able, I’m ready to give back with a team of my own. Ayo Dos Elite is more than just a basketball team,” Dosunmu said.

“We’re a community of athletes dedicated to mentorship, exposure, and athletic growth. When you join Ayo Dos Elite, it means gaining access to top-tier coaching, exposure to college recruiters, and a supportive team environment where you can grow both on and off the court.”

Incredible opportunity

The Ayo Dos Elite provides an incredible opportunity for young athletes from the Chicago area to compete against the best players around the country and learn the tricks of the trade from a legitimate professional basketball player. Dosunmu has been a moving force in the community, establishing Ayo’s Scholars at his previous middle school and the annual Block Party.

Making Dosunmu’s efforts more impressive is the fact that he’s doing all these despite his growing responsibilities on a Bulls squad ravaged by injuries to numerous players. With Zach LaVine, Patrick Williams, and Torrey Craig sidelined, Dosunmu has stepped up and is averaging 15.6 points on 58 percent shooting in his last 15 games.
