The Miami Heat’s woes continued as they suffered their fifth consecutive loss in the NBA preseason.

The 119-118 overtime loss at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks must sting for Miami Heat fans, but the game had even more concerning news.

3x NBA All-Star Bam Adebayo suffered an injury and was forced to exit the game in the third quarter.

Bam Adebayo’s injury update

Considering Adebayo didn’t return to the game, the Heat Nation was worried about the severity of the injury.

However, head coach Erik Spoelstra confirmed after the game that Adebayo suffered a minor knee contusion, per AP’s Tim Reynolds.

“Erik Spoelstra said postgame tonight in Atlanta that Bam Adebayo (knee contusion) not returning to the game was precautionary, and the Heat are returning home with every expectation that he’s fine,”

Before being forced to leave the game, Adebayo was looking in great touch as he already had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 19 minutes.

But the Heat may keep Adebayo on the sidelines for their final preseason matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, as there is no need to take that extra risk before the regular season.

Miami Heat are off to their worst preseason start since 2007

The Heat are currently winless in the preseason, and there is a genuine chance they will go 0-6 ahead of the regular season.

According to the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang, this is the first time since 2007 that the Heat are off to a 0-5 start in the preseason.

“The Heat are off to a 0-5 start in the preseason for just the second time in franchise history. The other time this happened came in 2007, when the Heat dropped all seven of its exhibitions for the only winless preseason in franchise history,” Chiang wrote on X.

If this form carries over to the regular season, it could mean trouble for coach Spoelstra. After all, the Heat seem set for another mediocre season.
