Barstool Announces Decision On Ex-NBA Player Patrick Beverley

Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley has been in the headlines lately for being accused of assault. He was arrested on Nov. 14.

Beverley is being accused of confronting his 15-year-old sister and grabbing her "by her neck with both hands, and picked her up off the ground, by having her feet come up from the floor." The former NBA guard allegedly squeezed her neck hard enough that she was "losing oxygen and not able to breathe."

Last week, Beverley's camp tried to provide some clarification. He said he was concerned for his sister because she was allegedly alone with an 18-year-old man.

“Patrick Beverley has no criminal record,” the post reads. “He cares deeply about his little sister — a young lady, a minor. Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described, and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court.”

Beverley was taken into custody at Fort Bend County jail. He's facing a third-degree felony assault charge.

What does this mean for Beverley's show?

Beverley hosts the "Hoopin' N Hollerin" podcast for Barstool Sports. During Wednesday's episode of "The Unnamed Show," Barstool founder Dave Portnoy commented on Beverley's legal situation.

Portnoy said Beverley is taking time away from Barstool to "figure all this out." If there's truth to the allegations, he won't be part of the company moving forward.

"We'll let the facts play out," Portnoy said. "Certainly, with what is hanging there, we can't have him be part of what we're doing right now, and we got to see how it settles, but this is horrible. If there's any truth to it, he won't be back at Barstool."

As of now, Barstool won't jump to any conclusions regarding Beverley's future.
