Beloved NBA Champion Emerges as Warriors Offseason ‘Option’
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors were delivered a second-round exit from the 2025 NBA Playoffs after losing Stephen Curry to a hamstring injury. Now, the name of the game in the Bay Area is to retool and reposition.

This NBA offseason is expected to be a busy one with names like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and others all potentially available on the trade market. For the Warriors, it should prove worthwhile to look beyond those two massive names.

Boston Celtics provide Warriors with perfect trade target

The Boston Celtics are expected to endure some big changes in the upcoming offseason. The bill of paying so many massive contracts is catching up to the organization amid an ownership change.

A player like Jayson Tatum can be comfortably presumed to be safe. Perhaps Jaylen Brown is too. To some extent past that, it is more than fair to assume any player can be had at the right price.

Logan Murdock of The Ringer expects Derrick White to be an ‘option’ that the Warriors explore in the 2025 offseason. The Celtics guard is an easy and attractive plug-and-play on any roster in the NBA. White would comfortably push the Warriors closer to a championship in the 2025-26 season.

What could a potential trade involving White and the Warriors look like? Depending on the perceived value of the Celtics star, something along the lines of the following package could be a starting point.

Celtics receive: Moses Moody, Buddy Hield, Brandin Podziemski, 2027 unprotected first-round pick (GSW).

Warriors receive: Derrick White.

The Warriors would be surrendering some depth and youth in favor of a player who can help put them in the mix for an NBA championship in the near future. Depending on discussion around White’s trade value, more draft capital may be needed to get the job done.
