Ben Simmons is apparently not ready to go golfing just yet.
The former NBA All-Star forward Simmons, who remains unsigned as an unrestricted free agent this offseason, posted a photo set of himself to Instagram this week. In the photos, Simmons was back home in his native Australia, apparently on vacation.
The photos, which showed Simmons fishing and engaging in other leisurely activities, further fueled the retirement speculation surrounding him. One particular user left a comment on Simmons’ post that read, “Is bro retired?”
Simmons himself responded to the comment with a simple answer. “no,” he wrote.

Still just 29 years old, the former No. 1 overall draft pick Simmons has gone roughly two-and-a-half months and counting now without getting a deal from an NBA team. In recent weeks, we even heard that Simmons, whose love for the game has been questioned many times before, was supposedly considering retirement.
The more logical explanation for Simmons’ lengthy spell of going unsigned is probably his stance on salary. The former All-Defensive selection, who averaged a 5-5-6 overall stat line last season, is reportedly looking for a larger contract than the veteran’s minimum (worth roughly $3.3 million for him) and is thus likely continuing to hold out for more money. But Simmons’ situation is now even more complicated thanks to the fact that he just recently got dropped by his agent.
