Ben Simmons, Gabe Vincent On Kings’ Radar

According to Carmichael Dave of Sactown Sports 1140 (Twitter link), former No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons was among the players that Kings general manager Scott Perry watched work out in Florida on Tuesday.

A three-time All-Star who wasn’t in the league during the 2025/26 season, Simmons recently suggested that he’s on the comeback trail and is seeking a new NBA opportunity. The 30-year-old has battled back issues in recent years, but reporting earlier this month indicated that he has gotten healthier and his recaptured his previous athleticism.

Trainer Ryan Powell posted a series of Instagram photos over the weekend from a workout in Miami that featured both Simmons and Victor Oladipo, another free agent guard who is said to be on Sacramento’s radar.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report (video link), Gabe Vincent is one more free agent guard the Kings are considering. Providing an update on Vincent’s free agency, Fischer confirmed that a return to the Heat is also in play for the the seven-year veteran and added that he passed on an offer to return to the Hawks earlier in free agency.

Sacramento is said to be in the market for a veteran point guard who can play a role off the bench while also serving as a mentor for lottery pick Darius Acuff Jr., who is expected to play the lion’s share of the minutes at the point. In addition to Simmons, Oladipo, and Vincent, the Kings have been connected to Cameron Payne and Elfrid Payton. The team was reportedly interested in reuniting with Russell Westbrook before the former MVP announced his retirement.

After using the stretch provision on DeMar DeRozan‘s $10MM cap hit, the Kings are about $5.34MM below the luxury tax line with 13 players on standard contracts, giving them enough room to fill out their last two roster spots with minimum-salary signings without going back into tax territory. It’s a safe bet that at least one of those two openings will be filled by a point guard.
