The Hawks have agreed to send Vit Krejci to the Trail Blazers in exchange for Duop Reath and two second-round picks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Atlanta will get its own 2027 second-rounder back from Portland, along with New York’s 2030 second, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
Reath recently underwent season-ending foot surgery, and there is a strong expectation he will be waived to open a roster spot for Atlanta. Cap expert Yossi Gozlan added that N’Faly Dante, who is also out for the year with a torn ACL, could be another candidate to be released as the Hawks sort through their options.
From Atlanta’s side, this is about flexibility. The Hawks clearly viewed Krejci as expendable after acquiring Corey Kispert, and this move allows them to recoup draft capital while clearing room.
For Portland, it is a targeted add.
Krejci is a 6-foot-8 guard shooting over 42 percent from three this season, filling an immediate need for a Blazers team that ranks last in the league in three-point percentage.
He is also on a team-friendly contract, making $2.3 million this year, with a non-guaranteed number next season and a team option beyond that.
The Stein Line’s Marc Stein reports Portland has remained active in trade talks and plans to promote two-way players Caleb Love and Sidy Cissoko to standard contracts after the Feb. 5 deadline.
This wasn’t a headline move. But it was purposeful.
Atlanta gains picks and breathing room. Portland adds shooting and optionality. And both teams keep their larger plans intact as the deadline approaches.
