Blazers' CJ McCollum out at least a week with sprained foot

Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum is on track to miss a minimum of four total games due to the sprained left foot that he suffered in Saturday's 112-106 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

According to ESPN and The Associated Press, Portland head coach Terry Stotts told reporters on Monday that McCollum's foot will be re-evaluated in a week. Without the 29-year-old in the lineup, the Trail Blazers fell to the San Antonio Spurs 125-104 on Monday.

Rodney Hood started in place of McCollum.

Portland faces the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday and Friday and then hosts the New York Knicks on Sunday. The Trail Blazers end their homestand against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 25 and will then be at the Houston Rockets on Jan. 28.

This setback is brutal for the Trail Blazers and McCollum, as the guard was playing arguably the best basketball of his pro tenure. He was averaging career highs in scoring (26.7 points) and assists (5.0) at the time of the injury, and he's currently second on the team in scoring, assists, steals (1.3), and player efficiency rating (26.09).

Portland dropped to 8-6 on the season following the loss to San Antonio.
