Bleacher Report Has Toronto Taking Canadian Big Man Zach Edey In Latest Mock Draft

The 2024 NBA Draft is almost here.

With less than a mont away, things are heating up as teams continue to arrange workouts with draft prospects.

For the Toronto Raptors they will have picks No. 19 and No. 31 in this year’s draft.

A name that has been linked to the Raptors a lot lately at No. 19 is Canadian Zach Edey.

Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report put out his latest mock draft and he again has the Raptors taking him:

“At the least, Zach Edey may have opened scouts’ imaginations at the combine with the comfort level he demonstrated making jump shots during drills. Regardless, for a center who measures just under 7’4″ in socks with a near 7’11” wingspan, his touch and footwork have gotten sharp enough for scouts to picture a useful low-post scorer and offensive rebounder. Teams deeper up front will look elsewhere. So will those who question how playable he’ll be defensively in the playoffs. He’ll be enticing to teams looking to add more size, physicality around the basket and interior offense.”

The biggest question mark about Edey is if his game will translate to the pro level. However, if Edey can develop a jump shot, then he could be a huge grab for whichever team takes him. Wasserman compares Edey to Jonas Valanciunas.

“Bobi Klintman leaves NBA combine week as a classic fringe first-rounder—interesting enough to go in the 20s to a team that loves the big-wing archetype and two-way versatility, but not sharp enough in any one area for teams to confidently project what strengths/skills will translate.

He looked comfortable shooting in Chicago, and teams that ultimately buy his three-ball carrying over and improving could deem Klintman worth taking in the first round.”

In 2023-24, Klintman averaged 9.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. He shot 44.3 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three. Klintman has nice size and he can operate in the mid-post. He can also make some three-point shots which is an added bonus to his game.

Bleacher Report pitches trade idea for Raptors

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently put out an article looking at 1 new trade idea for every NBA team.

He suggested Toronto trading Brown to the Golden State Warriors for Canadian Andrew Wiggins.
