After seemingly falling out of favor with Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Jonathan Kuminga capitalized on his opportunity for more run during the team's series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
With Curry unavailable, Kuminga stepped up in a big way, averaging 20.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists. While it may not have been enough for the Warriors to truly value Kuminga enough to fight for him, it certainly helped increase his value around the league.
There was a point during the early stages of NBA free agency when the Miami Heat were thought to be interested, but as confirmed earlier this week, Miami isn't planning to pursue the former No. 7 overall pick.
However, with the Heat no longer viewed as a contender to land Kuminga, murmurs of a massive three-team trade have surfaced. As reported by Ali Thanwalla and Trisiti Rodriguez of NBC Sports Bay Area, the Warriors are in talks with the Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons.
"The Warriors, Kings and Detroit Pistons are discussing a three-team blockbuster that would send Kuminga and veteran point guard Dennis Schröder to Sacramento in separate sign-and-trade deals, a source told NBC Sports California," read the report.
As for what the Kings would be giving up, the report has them shipping Malik Monk to the Detroit Pistons, while also sending Devin Carter and Dario Saric to the Warriors.
While this certainly helps all parties involved, it does cause one to wonder what could have been had the Heat pulled the trigger.
