Blockbuster NBA Trade Idea Sends Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo to San Antonio Spurs

If Giannis Antetokounmpo requests a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks, the San Antonio Spurs will aggressively pursue the NBA superstar, sources told DallasHoopsJournal.

With that said, Dan Favale of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Bucks and Spurs:

San Antonio Spurs Receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Harrison Barnes, Dylan Harper, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, 2027 first-round pick (via ATL), 2029 first-round pick, Sacramento’s 2030 second-round pick, 2031 first-round pick (most favorable of SAS or SAC), Sacramento’s 2031 second-round pick

This trade idea would pair Antetokounmpo with All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox.

On paper, that’s a dangerous “Big 3.”

“Giannis-to-San Antonio permutations exist in droves,” Favale wrote. “Getting him there is all that matters. A baseline trio of Giannis, Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox with some combination of Harper, Castle and Vassell still on board is equal parts terrifying and championship-caliber.”

Antetokounmpo has spent his entire career with Milwaukee. The all-world swingman was the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

The Bucks reached the promised land in 2021, winning the title against the Phoenix Suns in six games. However, the team has won only one postseason series since then.

Antetokounmpo made the All-NBA First Team last season. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks. The Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs in five games. Indiana has beat Milwaukee in the postseason two years in a row.

One of the top players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed the future Hall of Famer to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023.

A top 75 player of all time, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star with career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks.

Antetokounmpo hasn’t requested a trade from the Bucks yet, but his future in Milwaukee is under a huge microscope after Damian Lillard was waived.
