Milwaukee Bucks media day provided the first glimpse at the team’s revamped roster and their strategy for the season. Bobby Portis, one of only three players remaining from the 2021 championship team, said adding Myles Turner elevates the Bucks into having one of the NBA’s most formidable frontcourts.
“We can grow together. We can get better together. You can’t really find three better bigs together on any other team,” Portis remarked via Eric Nehm during his media availability.
Bobby Portis talked about how excited he is that him, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Myles Turner are all roughly the same age.

Portis isn’t the only one praising the new addition. Giannis Antetokounmpo also spoke highly of bringing in the former Indiana Pacers center. Turner has long been a challenge for the Bucks, especially over the past two postseasons, and he perfectly fits the team’s new identity, which emphasizes a younger, more athletic roster.
Brook Lopez was exceptional for the Bucks, forming a dominant frontcourt alongside Giannis. But at 37, Lopez struggled on a roster that lacked strong perimeter defenders, prompting the Bucks to move on.
Turner immediately adds versatility, able to protect the rim, switch onto wings and guards, and still hold his own defensively.
As the Bucks’ sixth man, Portis has been nearly unstoppable. Despite missing 25 games due to suspension, he still put up 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting .466 from the field, .365 from three, and .836 from the line.
Bobby Portis’ energy and relentless hustle off the bench ignite the team, and with Turner in the lineup, he can slide to the four spot and continue to defend smaller opponents effectively.
Offensively, Portis and Turner both provide floor-spacing, with Turner knocking down 39.6 percent of his threes last season. Bucks general manager Jon Horst has openly emphasized the team’s goal to increase three-point attempts, building on their league-leading 3-point efficiency.
With Giannis set to run the offense as a point forward, having big men who can stretch the floor while defenses swarm him will be vital. It also boosts the Bucks’ ability to recover in transition. With a faster, younger roster, The Bucks should reach their defensive positions more quickly and effectively.
Jericho Sims may be the most underrated piece in the Bucks’ frontcourt. Joining the team mid-season, he largely went unnoticed by fans. In the limited minutes alongside Giannis, Sims showcased his defensive versatility and athletic impact, forming a highly effective frontcourt duo.
Questions have swirled all offseason about the Milwaukee Bucks’ backcourt and how they will generate offense. Doc Rivers will need time to figure out the best way to use his young guards, but it is clear that the Bucks now feature one of the most dominant frontcourts in the NBA.
