PHOENIX – Phoenix Suns’ star duo of guard Devin Booker and forward Kevin Durant received their Olympic rings for their respective performance at the Paris Olympics to secure the gold in August. The ceremony was held pregame before their home Monday night matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill was present to gift the Olympic heroes their rings when NBATV caught a moment between them that indicated good news for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

“Make sure you guys answer your phone in four years,” Hill said, handing Booker and Durant their rings. Both of them responded the same way.

“I’m there.”

Durant and Booker confirm, for the moment, their commitment to competing for Team USA in four years’ time. In the 2024 Paris Olympics, the duo was instrumental in the USA securing gold combining for 25.5 points per game as a duo.

Booker will be 31 years old when the next Olympic cycle rolls around. He is expected to still be in the prime of his career and be an important part of the USA’s basketball campaign in LA. However, for Durant, it’s a little more complicated.

Durant would be a month away from being 40 years old and would be the oldest USA Men’s Basketball Olympian in the team’s history. A fifth Olympic appearance and an expected fifth medal placement would place Durant at the top of the rankings for the most medals by a men’s basketball Olympian ever.

Winning in 2028 would tie him with Sue Bird for second all-time in gold medals by either a men’s or women’s basketball Olympian with five, behind fellow Phoenix basketball legend Diana Taurasi with six gold medals.

The 15-time All-Star is the men’s USA basketball scoring leader with 518 points. One final Olympic campaign could see him rise to the ranks of the all-time Olympic scoring leaders, as Durant currently sits at 8th. Durant is already a USA basketball legend but in 2028 he tries to create separation for the future generation that players, like Booker, will try to catch for decades.
