Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum’s Wild Game 3 Stat Has Never Been Seen Before
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

There’s no denying Jayson Tatum has been great for the Boston Celtics all throughout the regular season and playoffs this year. The thing is, his Game 3 performance might have set the bar when it comes to efficiency on the court.

Tatum first made waves during his rookie season in 2017 after the Celtics selected him using the third overall pick. In the 80 games he played back then, the former Duke star notched 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.

He would later step up in the departure of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward from the franchise to become Boston’s number one option. Over the years, the All-Star forward would form a deadly duo with Jaylen Brown to fuel the Celtics’ offense. Unfortunately, they always fell short in the playoffs, especially in 2022 when they lost the championship to the Stephen Curry and Golden State Warriors.

This season, though, the Celtics are firing on all cylinders, especially after the acquisition of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. This led Boston to having the best record in the league with 64 wins and 18 losses. It also gave them a favorable path in the playoffs by giving them previous matchups against a Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat and a Cleveland Cavaliers team with injured key players.

Jayson Tatum Posts Insane Stat After Boston Celtics Game 3 Win Over Indiana Pacers

After going through the first and second round, the Celtics are now one win away from returning to the NBA Finals. Tatum’s Game 3 performance was one for the ages, as seen in a post StatMuse shared on X:

“Jayson Tatum tonight: 36 PTS 10 REB 8 AST 5 3PM 0 TOV

1st player in NBA history (including regular season) to reach those numbers in a game with 0 TOV,” StatMuse tweeted.

Apart from Tatum’s efficient performance, Jrue Holiday’s heroics helped Boston go home with the win in a game that saw Tyrese Haliburton injured from the sidelines. Now, all they need is one more victory to place them within reach of the championship.

With Haliburton out and the Celtics playing like champions, it’ll take a miracle for Indiana to advance to the NBA Finals. Add Tatum’s dominant performance to the mix and seeing Boston again in the next round is almost a sure thing.
