Boston Celtics: Malik Beasley Named Dream Free Agent Target
Reggie Hildred-USA TODAY Sports

After winning the NBA Title, the Boston Celtics will now shift gears and prepare for the offseason. Who should be their dream target in free agency?

The Boston Celtics were able to win the NBA Title, as, after a fairly easy run through the Eastern Conference, they completed the gentleman’s sweep of the Dallas Mavericks. The Celtics did an excellent job constructing their roster this past offseason, and now their eyes will be set on repeating a strong offseason and hopefully then repeating as NBA Champions.

Recently, Bleacher Report spoke about dream free agent signings for every team in the NBA. With the salary cap tight for Boston, Bleacher Report had them pursuing a veteran on a minimum deal. That veteran was Malik Beasley of the Milwaukee Bucks. Here’s what they had to say.

The Boston Celtics should welcome any useful veterans who will agree to come to chase a championship on a minimum deal.

Beasley could likely receive more elsewhere after averaging 11.3 points while shooting 41.3 percent from three with the Milwaukee Bucks last season. However, he played on a vet-minimum deal last year, so he might be willing to do so again for another contender.

As the defending champs now, Boston will be a very desirable destination for veterans to go to chase a ring. Since Beasley played on a veteran minimum deal with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, joining Boston and doing the same is certainly possible.

Last season with the Bucks, Beasley totaled 11.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, while shooting over 40 percent from beyond the arc. Beasley was a big part of the rotation for the Bucks, as he played nearly 30 minutes a night, and almost played in every game last season.

There is a lot to like about what Beasley could bring to the table on a veteran minimum deal with the Boston Celtics. Now, we will have to see if the two sides decide to talk this summer.
