Bradley Beal Gets Brutally Honest on Why He Signed With Los Angeles Clippers

During an interview with Tamar Sher, NBA veteran Bradley Beal revealed why he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Beal signed a two-year, $10.9 million deal with the Clippers after agreeing to a lucrative buyout with the Phoenix Suns.

“I need a ring,” Bradley Beal said. “I need a ring. I want one bad. And I felt like I got a new life of rejuvenation for sure. New hunger. Excited about the opportunity. New city. New environment, but a hungry environment too. I’m definitely excited about the opportunity to go win.”

Beal has appeared in 801 NBA games with the Washington Wizards and Suns. He has career averages of 21.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks.

The Wizards signed Beal to a massive five-year, $251 million contract in 2022 that contained a no-trade clause. Beal and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James were the only active players in the NBA with a no-trade clause.

Phoenix acquired Beal from Washington in the summer of 2023. The Suns won zero postseason games in the Beal era. They were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2024 playoffs and missed the postseason last season.

The Clippers, led by future Hall of Famers Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in seven games. The franchise has never been to the NBA Finals.

Harden recruited Beal to the Clippers, who also signed NBA legend Chris Paul this offseason. LAC is expected to start Harden, Beal, Leonard, John Collins and Ivica Zubac next season.

A three-time NBA All-Star, Beal played in 53 games for the Suns last season. He averaged 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks while shooting 49.7% from the field, 38.6% from beyond the arc and 80.3% from the free-throw line.
