Bradley Beal Has No-Trade Clause Verdict With Phoenix Suns Entering Offseason: Report

The Phoenix Suns' biggest domino has fallen this offseason. They've traded Kevin Durant.

After a 36-46 finish this past season -- leading to a No. 11 finish in the Western Confernece -- the Suns broke up their star duo of Durant and Devin Booker.

The 15-time All-Star will now suit up for the Houston Rockets, where he'll reportedly retire -- though that's been said before.

Phoenix will retain and retool around Booker, too, as he's their franchise superstar.

Having spent his entire career in The Valley, both Booker and the Suns are committed to prolonging their partnership. With Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Khaman Maluach and Mark Williams now on the team, the roster looks quite different in Phoenix.

There are still moving parts this offseason, too. The Suns are about to enter free agency, where they will have decisions to make on Bol Bol and Tyus Jones.

Bradley Beal and his steep salary remain a factor in Phoenix's ability to make roster moves, too. They'll explore trades and buyout options for the former Washington Wizards star.

Beal has a no-trade clause, though, giving him control over his future in the NBA. He was hesitant to waive the clause at the trade deadline, and that remains the case this offseason.

“Beal would be open to the right trade that sends him the right destination, but his preference is to remain in Phoenix, even if the team won only 35 games a season ago and just downgraded from Kevin Durant, who it dealt to the Houston Rockets last weekend,” The Athletic's Fred Katz reports.

Should the veteran guard opt to stay in The Valley, the Suns will have a more difficult time continuing to build a competent roster around Booker and Green.

So, Beal's verdict on waiving his no-trade clause remains the same as it was in February: he'll only waive it for the proper situation.

Given his steep salary, it'll be hard to imagine a team worthy of landing him has the proper payroll and enough salary cap space to strike a trade.
