Phoenix Suns star shooting guard Bradley Beal has not looked like himself since returning from a hamstring injury. The Suns are 0-3 since Beal's return from injury on April 4, when he managed to score just one point against the Boston Celtics.
Beal's scoring numbers (8.0 points per game) since his return are significantly below his regular season average (16.8 points per game). Now, Beal and the Suns are facing elimination from having a shot to compete in the Western Conference play-in tournament.
Phoenix's last gasp chance to make the play-in won't be easy. The Suns would have to win out and have the Dallas Mavericks lose out to have a chance to make the play-in. Phoenix will play the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have the best record in the NBA, at 10:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 9.
Beal was recently asked how the Suns regroup following a 38-point defeat to the Golden State Warriors. "Just win, man," said Beal. "Whatever it takes. Three left."
The Suns' season has not gone according to plan. Phoenix' trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal just isn't working out.
The Suns are facing a tumultuous offseason that could feature a Kevin Durant trade. However, it will be difficult for the Suns to trade Beal, who is earning $50.2 million in 2024-2025, to another team without attaching significant assets.
