After just six games, Bradley Beal's 2025-26 season is over. On Wednesday, it was announced that the former All-Star guard has a fractured hip and will have season-ending surgery.
The news, as first reported by ESPN's Shams Charania, cuts Beal's disappointing debut season with the Los Angeles Clippers short before he even had a chance to make an impact.
Beal, 32, averaged just 8.2 points, 1.7 assists and a minuscule 0.8 rebounds per game in his six games with the Clippers.
Losing most of an entire season is the latest setback for a player that was once regarded as among the best at his position in the NBA.

Hoping to revitalize his career following two up and down years with the Phoenix Suns, Beal signed a two-year, $11M deal with the Clippers this past offseason. Beal became a free agent when his previous contract, a $110M deal he originally signed with the Washington Wizards before being traded to Phoenix, was bought out by the Suns.
Beal even agreed to forfeit about $13.9M to get out of Phoenix. His relationship with the Suns became contentious when he was relegated to coming off the bench and was constantly wrapped up in trade rumors. At one point, Beal rebuffed the thought about waiving his no-trade clause to facilitate the Suns sending him elsewhere, but he eventually agreed to move on via a buyout.
But since Beal's first season in Los Angeles has been derailed thanks to a serious injury, his NBA career could be in jeopardy. Beal was already struggling to fit in with his new team and putting up a production level way below his past All-Star form — he's averaged 21.4 points per game collectively throughout his 14-year career. Some are now speculating if the Clippers will copy the Suns and seek a quick divorce from Beal.
Only time will tell what the future holds for the former All-Star, but first, Beal will have to recover from his impending surgery.
