Less than 24 hours after the season-ending press conference, Bulls PR announced that Peter Patton, the director of player development, will not return to the Bulls next season. The player development staff remains important to Artūras Karnišovas, who will retain Austin Dufault, LD Williams, and Peter Crawford as coordinators. Dufault is expected to be a candidate to replace Patton as the director, according to CHSN Insider K.C. Johnson.

Sun-Times insider Joe Cowley reported that several players were disappointed by the news, as they have come to value Patton for the significant impact he had on their growth. Cowley adds that Patton was candid when providing his assessment of the team, a perspective that was not well received.
