The Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the most disappointing teams this season.
After winning 64 games last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers were considered to be a heavy favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference this season.
However, the Cavaliers have looked like a very mediocre team, getting off to a 15-13 record.
Right now, the Cavaliers are the 8th seed in the East and could end up being a play-in team if they don’t turn things around.
The Cavaliers have the talent this season but injuries and lack of consistency have demoralized this team.
The Cavs are coming off a brutal loss to the Chicago Bulls, who are the 10th seed in the East.
They got a rematch against the Bulls coming up so it will be interesting to see how the Cavaliers look, but Brian Windhorst called out head coach Kenny Atkinson for not having his players ready.
“I’ll hold him [Kenny Atkinson] accountable right now. He’s not getting his team ready to go. Like and I mean, I mean, I don’t know if you’d say this on the record I think he would agree.
“Like, you know, he had that that time off that practice time and his team has come back and not shown the type of improvement.
“They’re getting worse by the game and they’re having practice time to do it and they look yeah they look farther from the game plan. So like look like I can say you know Jarrett Allen. Why why aren’t you getting rebounds?
“Like how come you are getting beat on boards every single game? How come you know, uh, you know, there’s so much productivity coming down.
“How come these guys are having uh focus issues, you know, how do you let the Bulls? Generate clean shot after clean shot after clean shot like I can hold players on the team accountable and I can say that the coach hasn’t had him ready to play.
“In a spot where he really doesn’t have an excuse about I mean you can you can say look. He can’t go to his bench and put in Ty Jerome and De’Andre Hunter who obviously he put on his bench. Um for the game in Chicago because he’s trying to get some sort of reliable firepower off over there.
“And frankly De’andre hasn’t been playing well recently. Um, you know, uh, you can say that his roster isn’t the same that he had last year like you can can point to that but you can’t I mean he does need to be held accountable for the team not being ready and having game plan discipline.
“Like he should be um, and like, you know, he and the coaching staff have got to do a better job.”
It might be time for the Cavaliers to hit the panic button if they can’t get it going.
The Cavaliers might look to make some big changes at the trade deadline to change things up.
According to Shams Charania, Cleveland has been receiving tons of calls on their players, but right now Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley are considered “untouchable.”
However, the Cavaliers could still look to move other pieces like Darius Garland, who has struggled this season and big man Jarrett Allen.
