Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James is entering his second NBA season. Spending much of his rookie year in the G League with the South Bay Lakers, James averaged 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 18 games between the regular season and Tip-Off Tournament ( via G League Stats).
Unsurprisingly, these numbers were much better than what James posted at the NBA level where he averaged just 2.3 points in 6.7 minutes per contest across 27 appearances. Because of these limited opportunities in his rookie season, James has been expected to play in the Las Vegas Summer League for a second straight year.
While all indications have been pointing toward James playing for the Lakers in Summer League, that was confirmed on Friday by NBA insider Marc Stein. Los Angeles will face Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks to open Summer League play, with Stein confirming James will be on LA's roster.
"Bronny James is confirmed to play for the Lakers’ summer league team in Las Vegas, sources tell @TheSteinLine, with Mavericks vs. Lakers set for ESPN at 8 PM EST on July 10," he wrote on X.

James was a huge draw last summer despite being just the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The son of LeBron James had fans tuning in to all of his summer appearances, and that will only be intensified when he and the Lakers face Flagg for what will be the former Duke star's first game at the professional level.
