In what was arguably the most controversial second-round pick in NBA draft history, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Many deemed the pick an act of nepotism, as James is the oldest son of a future Hall of Fame selection and Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James. It also didn't help that the younger James struggled during his lone season at USC.

Regardless of how fans felt, the duo made history as they became the first father-son duo to ever suit up in an NBA game together. The younger James did most of his damage this past season in the G League, where he averaged 21.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists.

With the NBA Summer League around the corner, James will have a chance to hone his craft some more, both on and off the court. Something he discussed on Wednesday when speaking to the local media, as he was asked about how he appears to have leaned out after his first season despite being listed at 210 pounds as a rookie.

"For me, mainly just getting in elite condition," James said. "Being able to be disruptive on the opposite third, defensive end, and be aggressive on the offensive end. So that's my main focus, probably why I am getting a little leaner. But I still got 215 on me still. So just running a lot, getting a lot of conditioning in and then just staying on top of my diet, eating healthy. Being a professional."

James joked that he is technically a veteran on the summer league team now, and is looking to take advantage of his reps and grow as a player.

He and the Lakers will open up the NBA Summer League against this year's No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks.
