Bronny James and the Los Angeles dropped their third-straight game on Tuesday, falling to 50-29 on the 2025-26 NBA season after a 123-87 blowout loss to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder. And on Thursday, the Lakers looked to end the drought, hitting the road to face the Steph Curry-less Golden State Warriors.
While Bronny, the son of LeBron James, hasn't had a major impact for Los Angeles over his first two NBA seasons, the former USC Trojans guard has seen his role increase in year two. In 39 games played, including one start, Bronny is averaging 2.5 points on 38.4% shooting and 1.1 assists per game, all of which happen to be career highs.
But with the Lakers recently getting hit by the injury bug, including season-ending injuries to guards Luka Doncic (hamstring strain), Marcus Smart (ankle contusion) and Austin Reaves (oblique strain), Bronny has seen more playing time. In fact, in two of Los Angeles’ last three games, both against the Thunder, he has logged more than 18 minutes in each, totaling 14 points on 6-of-17 shooting, along with three assists and two rebounds.
Bronny continued to have a bigger role in Thursday's matchup against Golden State. And with just under a minute remaining in the first quarter, Bronny stole the ball from the Warriors' Charles Bassey, before passing it up the court to LeBron for an easy dunk, increasing the Lakers' lead to 25-20.
In doing so, both Bronny and LeBron entered the NBA record books, recording the league’s first son-to-father assist. This comes just a couple of weeks after the James duo became the first ever to tally a father-to-son assist during the March 27 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
"THE FIRST-EVER SON-TO-FATHER ASSIST IN NBA HISTORY!" the NBA wrote on X. "BRONNY BOUNCES IT. LEBRON SLAMS IT."

Following the Warriors game, the Lakers will have two games remaining before the NBA Playoffs, facing the Phoenix Suns on Friday and the Utah Jazz on Sunday.
