Bronny James to work out with Phoenix Suns ahead of NBA Draft
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns are considering Bronny James, son of LeBron James, with their 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. The eldest son of LeBron James has agreed to a private workout with the Suns, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who are doing their due diligence on him and other players.

The Los Angeles Lakers are also interested in drafting James Jr., potentially with their second-round pick (55th overall). Bronny’s draft stock is uncertain, with some scouts hesitant to buy into his potential.

The Phoenix Suns will conduct a workout with Bronny James ahead of the June NBA Draft, sources say. Phoenix has the 22nd pick and he is among several players in consideration. Bronny has over 10 workout invites but is expected to only visit a few teams, including Lakers and Suns. Shams Charania wrote on X

The Suns are in a tricky spot this offseason, with an expensive roster and limited avenues to make changes. They’ve ruled out trading their core players and will rely on free agency and the draft to improve.

LeBron James wants Bronny to forge his own path in the NBA, and the Suns are seriously considering him with their first-round pick. Despite his famous father, Bronny James is determined to make a name for himself in the league.

Bronny James won’t sign a two-way contract, agent Rich Paul insists

Bronny James’ agent, Rich Paul, spoke in an interview with Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes and had ruled out a two-way contract for his client. Paul stated that he won’t allow Bronny to sign a two-way contract, which would allow him to play in both the NBA and G League.

If it aligns where he can play with his dad, great. Am I necessarily focused on that? No, not at all. I'm focused on a team-plan investment and a seriousness as it pertains to fit and opportunity. We know that there's gonna be some development necessary, but what does that actually look like? The teams I've talked to know exactly where I stand. I'm not going to bulls**t around in this process. We're going to execute our plan. Rich Paul said to BR’s Chris Haynes

Bronny has received multiple workout invites, but will only work out for a few teams, including the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers. The Suns, who have the 22nd overall pick, will hold a workout for Bronny next week.

Paul is focused on finding the best fit for Bronny’s development, as he is actively looking for a team that will invest in Bronny’s future and provide the right opportunities for growth. He’s not prioritizing whether Bronny plays with his father, LeBron James, but rather finding a team that aligns with their plan.
