The NBA offseason is right around the corner as only four teams remain in the playoffs as they square off in the Conference Finals.
While those four teams still have a shot at winning the championship this season, the other 26 teams are preparing for the offseason, including the Golden State Warriors.
Golden State put together a solid season that saw them go from a borderline playoff team to having a real shot at winning the title after adding Jimmy Butler at the deadline.
Of course, their season came to a disappointing end in the second round of the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves as they lost in five games after their star guard Stephen Curry suffered an injury in Game 1.
Now the Warriors enter the offseason looking to build around their aging core of Curry, Butler and Draymond Green and they have one position that they must improve on, which is the center position.
Golden State struggled with size for most of the season though rookie center Quinten Post stepped up down the stretch.
Because of this, they are reportedly looking to add a new starting center this offseason and Brook Lopez has been mentioned as a potential target in free agency, though a recent report may hurt the Warriors’ chances of landing him.
“There’ll be plenty of interest in him. I’m sure the (Los Angeles) Lakers have already talked to him,” an NBA executive said.

With many teams looking to add a starting center in the offseason, the Warriors may have to get into a bidding war with other teams, which will not work in their favor with their limited cap space.
Of course, Lopez would be a great fit with Golden State as he would not only give them a great inside defender but also give them another reliable scorer.
Lopez’s career with the Milwaukee Bucks is likely over and with him being an unrestricted free agent, it is clear that one executive believes that many teams will be interested in signing him, which may not work out too well for the Warriors’ potential pursuit of him.
