The Brooklyn Nets have been busy during the 2025 NBA Draft as the team selected guard Ben Saraf with the 26th pick. This is an interesting move as he has played throughout international basketball in Israel and has shown to be a solid player. This was originally the New York Knicks’ 2025 first-round pick, but this was part of the massive Mikal Bridges trade that sent five first-round picks to Brooklyn exactly one year ago. Let’s take a closer look at what this means going forward for Ben Saraf and the Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets have been no stranger to drafting international players and that does not stop with guard Ben Saraf. He is a bigger guard, listed at 6-foot-6 and has a good shooting stroke. However, his 3-point shooting leaves a bit to be desired at this point. With the ability to play on the wing and do well off the pick-and-roll. Saraf played in 16 games the previous season in Germany with Ulm and averaged 12.8 points while shooting 40.3% from the floor and 26.1% from deep.
This is going to be a good spot for him to develop his skills and get some playing time off the rip with a team looking to take that step as a rebuilding and young roster in a weaker Eastern Conference.
The Nets are going to be interesting as three of their first four picks in the draft have been guards. The team is going to be intriguing to say the least as they are attempting to develop with a young core. General manager Sean Marks and the front office seem to be addressing the backcourt heavily while also getting players with some professional experience where they can. Saraf was last summer’s U18 European MVP so he has the ability to dominate and needs to bring that skill to Brooklyn.
