The Bucks and forward Ousmane Dieng have agreed on a three-year, $17.5MM contract, ESPN’s Shams Charania tweets. The final year of the deal includes a team option, Hoopshype’s Michael Scotto tweets.

Dieng became an unrestricted free agent when the Bucks didn’t give him a qualifying offer, which was worth $8.77MM.

Instead, the two parties pursued a multi-year agreement at a lower figure. It also gives Milwaukee the ability to deal Dieng any time after Dec. 15 if it so chooses.

Dieng was acquired from the Thunder in a three-team deal at last season’s trade deadline. He never cracked the Thunder’s regular rotation, but got a chance to play regularly for the Bucks. He averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 26.8 minutes per game over the course of 30 contests (20 starts) in Milwaukee, convincing the Bucks’ front office to retain him.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo headed to Miami, Dieng has a clear opportunity to claim a starting spot on the revamped roster.
