The Milwaukee Bucks have done everything they can to optimize their championship window with Giannis Antetokounmpo as the franchise’s focal point, including a roster overhaul in the offseason that risked the team’s future payroll flexibility.

The 30-year-old Greek superstar has responded with one of the strongest starts of his career.

Through his first 13 games of the 2025–26 season, Antetokounmpo averaged 31.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.2 blocks while shooting 62.9% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc. He was an early frontrunner for NBA MVP before suffering an injury against the Cleveland Cavaliers last Monday.

Antetokounmpo sustained a left groin strain that forced his early exit from the game. Milwaukee has since dropped three straight games without him.

After the injury, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said the expectation was that it would not be a long-term setback, with Antetokounmpo projected to return in one to two weeks. Nine days later, he has been trending in the right direction in his rehab and recovery.

That progress was enough for the Bucks to announce on their official injury report that he is questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat with a left adductor strain. It marks the first upgrade in his status since the injury and signals he is moving closer to a return. His potential comeback could provide a much-needed boost to help Milwaukee snap its losing streak.

“Injury Report – Nov. 26 at Miami, Questionable: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Left Adductor Strain),” the Bucks wrote on X.

Antetokounmpo has spent all 13 years of his career in Milwaukee, becoming the defining face of the franchise. His crowning achievement came in 2021, when he led the Bucks to their first championship in 50 years with a legendary Finals performance that earned him Finals MVP honors.

Over the course of his career, he has collected two league MVPs, nine All-NBA selections and five All-Defensive honors. Antetokounmpo’s completeness as a player comes from his rare ability to dominate offensively while also anchoring a defense, blending size, speed and skill in ways few players ever have.

Antetokounmpo continues to set the standard for modern superstars, which is why his current injury status carries so much weight for Milwaukee’s hopes of contending.
