The Milwaukee Bucks’ backcourt took another blow. The team shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Kevin Porter Jr. injured his right knee meniscus during on-court return-to-play activities. He will undergo a minor orthopedic procedure and is expected to miss about four weeks. The announcement comes as Porter continues his recovery from the left ankle sprain he sustained in the season opener.
“Medical Update: Kevin Porter Jr. sustained a right knee meniscus injury during his on-court return-to-play training yesterday. The injury will require a minor orthopedic procedure that will sideline him for approximately four weeks. Further updates will be provided as necessary,” according to the post on X.
Porter was nearing a return from the ankle injury he suffered in the Oct. 22 win against the Washington Wizards. In that game, he tallied 10 points and two assists in just nine minutes before leaving the court.
The setback comes just as Milwaukee was starting to find its rhythm despite missing several starters. On Thursday, the Bucks powered past the Golden State Warriors 120-110, fueled by Ryan Rollins’ 32 points and eight assists, while Myles Turner chipped in 17 points and seven rebounds.
The box score showed the Bucks outscored the Warriors 33-26 in the fourth quarter, with eight players reaching double figures. It was a clear sign of how coach Doc Rivers has managed the guard rotation effectively, relying on Rollins and Cole Anthony to keep the offense flowing.

Porter’s presence remains valuable, as he averaged 11.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists for Milwaukee after the trade deadline last season. His ability to attack the rim complements Giannis Antetokounmpo’s inside game, giving the Bucks another aggressive scoring option.
With this new meniscus issue, Ryan Rollins and Cole Anthony will carry heavier workloads, while Myles Turner’s screening will be crucial in creating open shots for teammates. Fans will likely view this as a challenge rather than a major setback, but it still stretches Milwaukee’s backcourt depth at a time when Antetokounmpo has yet to return.

From a wider perspective, Milwaukee has managed the opening stretch of the season through collective effort. Thursday’s box score reflected that balance, and it will likely remain the plan while Porter heals. If his recovery stays on course, the Bucks should regain a valuable playmaker and scoring option once they get past their demanding November schedule.
