Giannis Antetokounmpo just shook the NBA world to its core.
ESPN insider Brian Windhorst reported that the Greek superstar requested to be traded to the New York Knicks before the start of the season.
He just scrubbed most Milwaukee Bucks references from his social media profiles, and with his team struggling to stay afloat, it seems like he might force his way out.
With that in mind, coach Doc Rivers had to set the record straight.
Talking to the media ahead of his team's win over the Detroit Pistons, the former NBA championship-winning coach addressed the situation.
"So, here we go again," Rivers started, via Lily Zhao of Fox6 in Milwaukee. "There's been no conversations...Giannis has never asked to be traded. Ever. I can't make that more clear. I go to the source. I talk to the source every single day. He loves Milwaukee, and he loves the Bucks."
Windhorst is one of the most renowned insiders in the NBA, and he's broken multiple trade requests in the past, so it's hard to believe he would jeopardize his credibility by jumping the gun on this type of report.
Also, Giannis has openly admitted his frustration with his team's inability to compete for an NBA championship again, and he's made it loud and clear that he wants to win.
The Bucks are 10-13 and in tenth place in the Eastern Conference, and with the unofficial trade season about to begin on December 15, this story isn't going to go away any time soon.
