Bucks fire HC Adrian Griffin after just 43 games

The Milwaukee Bucks made a major move on Tuesday.

The Bucks have fired first-year head coach Adrian Griffin. The move was made despite the Bucks beating the Pistons 122-113 on Monday night to improve to 30-13 on the season.

The Bucks are second in the East behind the Boston Celtics and tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the second-best record in the NBA, as of Tuesday.

The Bucks are naming Joe Prunty their interim head coach.

Griffin served as an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors from 2018-2023. He was hired by the Bucks in June and has now been fired seven months later after a seemingly strong start.

The quick firing of Griffin reminded some of when the Cavaliers fired David Blatt in 2016 despite a 30-11 start.

This dismissal of Adrian Griffin feels very reminiscent of David Blatt's firing with the Cavs in 2016. We all know it's the right move despite the team's success which came in spite of him. The Cavs won the chip, have to wonder if this move catapults the Bucks in the same way.
