Giannis gives teammates credit for making his job 'a lot easier'

There’s no denying that the Milwaukee Bucks will only go as far as Giannis Antetokounmpo takes them. However, it’s also true that the former back-to-back NBA MVP would not be in the position he is in right now had it not been for his teammates.

It also follows then, that Giannis will only be able to carry the Bucks to glory if his teammates rally behind him.

Monday’s win against the Chicago Bulls was a perfect example of this notion. Giannis let his teammates carry much of the scoring burden for the majority of the game as he entered the fourth quarter with just 12 points on five attempts from the field.

Antetokounmpo did take over in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead his squad to a 133-129 victory, but the fact of the matter is that the Bucks would not have won had it not been for the strong play of Giannis’ teammates.

“There’s gonna be times that you have to make plays,” Giannis said. “… There’s going to be times that maybe you have to make a lot of plays throughout the game, maybe shoot 20 shots. And there’s going to be times that they’re going to show a lot of crowd wall. Teams like Miami, teams like Chicago, teams like New York, they’re gonna show wall. You gotta make the right play.

“I think just having that confidence in my teammates, I know that I have great playmakers, great shot makers next to me. It makes my job a lot easier. It’s not hard to pass the ball to Dame (Lillard) or Khris (Middleton) or Brook (Lopez) or Malik (Beasley). That’s easy. They can make shots. … I have great teammates.”

You can say that again.

On Monday, six other players apart from Giannis scored in double figures in what was a total team effort for the Bucks.

Giannis clearly trusts his teammates completely — and they have constantly given him more than enough reasons to do so.
