NBA free agency has taken center stage this summer, and the Milwaukee Bucks are right in the middle of it. After falling short in the postseason and parting ways with Damian Lillard, the Bucks are hunting for a dynamic piece to complement Giannis Antetokounmpo and reset their title window.
As top-tier names get snatched up and cap space tightens across the league, the Bucks have now turned its attention to a promising 22-year-old wing with elite upside.
According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater , the Bucks have registered interest in Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who is currently a restricted free agent. ESPN’s Bobby Marks has projected a potential deal for Kuminga in the range of three years, $80 million, underlining just how much value teams see in him.
The Warriors have extended a $7.9 million qualifying offer but are open to sign-and-trade possibilities. League sources say they’re asking for a young player plus a first-round pick in return.
Kuminga is coming off a breakout season, highlighted by a 20.8-point average in Golden State’s second-round playoff loss to Minnesota. After years of inconsistency and fluctuating roles, he's finally looking to become a core piece somewhere new. “I know how we can work with him better,” Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. said, hinting that Golden State is still weighing all options.

A move to Milwaukee would pair Kuminga’s athleticism and growing offensive game with Antetokounmpo's dominant presence. With Lillard gone, the Bucks need a versatile scorer and defender who can grow into a featured role. Kuminga fits that bill.
Antetokounmpo, always hungry for help in the quest for another championship, could benefit from a young, explosive wing hungry to prove himself on a contender.
Kuminga may not be a finished product but next to Antetokounmpo, the ceiling could be sky-high.
