Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks marked their second straight win on Monday night after taking down the Charlotte Hornets, 123-113. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the charge for the Bucks in his second game back from a lengthy injury spell. The former back-to-back MVP registered 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting, four rebounds, seven assists and a steal in just 25 minutes of action.

Milwaukee improved to 14-19 after Monday’s win, which marked a special milestone for Rivers. Now in his 27th season as an NBA head coach and his third with the Bucks, Rivers climbed the all-time leaderboards for most career wins in league history.

It has been a tumultuous season thus far for Rivers and the Bucks. Apart from having a losing record at this point in the campaign, this team has also had to deal with all the drama surrounding Antetokounmpo’s future with the franchise.

At one point, Rivers himself addressed the rumors, strongly denying any and all claims that Antetokounmpo had demanded a trade away from Milwaukee.

It was a good night for Rivers on Monday, though. He recorded his 1,176th career win, surpassing George Karl on the NBA’s all-time list. The Bucks took to social media to announce Rivers’ historic feat.

“Congratulations to Doc Rivers on moving into sixth on the NBA’s all-time coaching wins list,” the team posted on X.

The Bucks will need Rivers to keep adding to his tally this season if they want to challenge for the title. As of writing, they are 11th in the Eastern Conference and are still quite a ways behind the .500 mark.

Rivers, a former NBA Coach of the Year winner, will get a chance to stack up another win on Wednesday when Milwaukee returns to action for a home game against the Washington Wizards.
