Bucks’ Myles Turner elected new NBPA Vice President

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) announced on Wednesday that Milwaukee Bucks center Myles Turner has been elected the new vice president on the NBPA Executive Committee, replacing Garrett Temple.

Turner will immediately begin his three-year term with the NBPA following Temple’s retirement announcement at the end of the 2025-26 season. After spending 16 years in the league and on the court, Temple is transitioning into a new role as an assistant on Dusty May’s new staff with the Dallas Mavericks.

“I am thrilled to join the executive committee at such a pivotal time for our league and am prepared to take on this leadership role within the PA,” Turner said in the NBPA’s release. “It’s an honor to be voted in by my peers, and I am committed to advancing the priorities that matter most to the players across the league.”

The NBPA Executive Committee is made up of nine Union members, all of whom are peer-elected to their leadership positions. Fred VanVleet currently serves as the committee’s president, and he works closely with executive director David Kelly, who replaced Andre Iguodala in February.

Grant Williams serves as the first VP, and Mason Plumlee is the executive committee’s secretary/treasurer. Turner joins Karl-Anthony Towns, Santi Aldama, Jaylen Brown, Trey Murphy III, and Gabe Vincent as the six vice presidents on the NBPA Executive Committee.

Since joining the NBA as the 11th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, Turner has always remained involved in social impact and philanthropic endeavors. He established the W.A.R.M. (Work As Role Models) Foundation early in his career, which is an initiative created to support underserved communities.

In 2025, Turner and his fiancée, Aysia McCloud, co-founded The Casper Foundation, an organization dedicated to animal welfare by focusing on animal rescue, shelter support, and adoption.

Turner takes over for Temple on the NBPA’s Executive Committee following the veteran’s long-term involvement with the player’s association. Temple was first elected as a vice president on the executive committee in 2017 and was subsequently reelected in 2021 and 2024.

During his nine-year tenure with the NBPA, Temple was part of multiple collective bargaining cycles and was a key voice in strategic planning and key initiatives to support the well-being of players across the league off the court.

“Garrett’s commitment to the brotherhood over the last nine years has been admirable, and we wish him the best of luck in his next endeavor as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks,” Kelly said. “We are also thrilled to welcome Myles Turner as the newest member of our executive committee.
