Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard suffered a torn left Achilles tendon during the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs. During Game 4 of their best-of-seven series against the Indiana Pacers, Lillard had a non-contact injury early in the first quarter and was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Lillard only played three games in the preseason after he recovered from deep vein thrombosis in his right calf. This prevented him from missing the latter part of March and the rest of April of the regular season.
His absence led to the Bucks' eventual loss in the postseason. Fortunately for Milwaukee, the team revealed an important update regarding Lillard.
On Friday, the Bucks confirmed that Lillard underwent a successful surgery to repair his Achilles tendon.
"Damian Lillard underwent successful surgery today to repair a torn left Achilles tendon," the Bucks revealed. "The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, with consultation from Bucks orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Carole Vetter."

The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, with consultation from Bucks orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Carole Vetter.
Due to the severity of the injury, Lillard is expected to miss more than a year of competitive basketball.
The nine-time All-Star finished his second season with the Bucks and was limited to 58 games. The point guard averaged 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists for Milwaukee. In the postseason, he tried to help his co-star, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
However, he couldn't find his rhythm during his three appearances. Lillard averaged seven points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists on 22.2% shooting from the field. In Game 4, he played for only six minutes and didn't register a point.
