Less than two weeks after being waived by the Clippers, second-year forward Johni Broome has signed with the Bucks, the team announced today in a press release.
Broome, who turned 24 in September, was the 35th overall pick in the 2025 draft. He made just 11 NBA appearances for the Sixers as a rookie, logging 55 total minutes of action and contributing 10 points and 16 rebounds while shooting 4-of-24 from the floor. The former Auburn standout spent more of his rookie season with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League, appearing in 26 games for Philadelphia’s affiliate.
Broome averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 32.8 minutes per contest for Delaware, though his NBAGL season ended early when he underwent a partial meniscectomy in late February to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee. He returned to action in the NBA playoffs, playing some garbage-time minutes in a pair of blowout losses to the Knicks in the second round.
With the Sixers facing a cap crunch this summer, Broome was traded to L.A. along with a second-round pick in a cost-cutting move and was subsequently waived by the Clippers, who remain on the hook for his fully guaranteed $2.15MM salary for 2026/27.
It seems safe to assume that Broome’s deal with the Bucks is non-guaranteed. If it includes Exhibit 10 language, it could be converted to a two-way deal before opening night. For what it’s worth, Milwaukee does currently have an open two-way slot.
The Bucks could also make Broome an affiliate player for their G League team if he’s waived before the regular season begins. In that scenario, he would be eligible for a bonus worth up to $91K on top of his standard NBAGL salary if he spends at least 60 days with the Wisconsin Herd.
