The Milwaukee Bucks confirmed some expected news ahead of Thursday's Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Atlanta Hawks.
Milwaukee announced Thursday afternoon that superstar and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo is out for Game 5 due to the hyperextended left knee he suffered in the third quarter of Tuesday's Game 4, which Atlanta won to even the series 2-2.
It's been reported that Antetokounmpo has no structural damage to the knee, but his status for the rest of the series and the remainder of the playoffs, if the Bucks advance, is in doubt.
Antetokounmpo went down with over seven minutes to play in the third quarter of Game 4 after he contested an alley-oop attempt and landed awkwardly. While he ultimately made a brief return to the bench, he was ruled out for the remainder of that matchup.
Meanwhile, Hawks star guard Trae Young missed Game 4 with a bone bruise in his right foot he suffered in Sunday's contest and will likely be a game-time decision Thursday night.
