After the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated in the first round by the Indiana Pacers in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, trade rumors began to surface. Most of the trade talk involves Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Many believe he will request a trade after being ousted in the opening round of the postseason for a third year in a row.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Bucks and their franchise star will discuss the next step over the summer. Neither side has kept quiet so far about what they want to achieve in the talks.

However, NBA insider Marc Stein revealed Milwaukee’s intentions regarding Antetokounmpo on Monday.

The insider revealed on "The Stein Line" that the Bucks have no plans to trade away their superstar.

"The Bucks, league sources say, remain hopeful that Giannis Antetokounmpo will not ask out after a third successive first-round exit. Maybe it is false hope, but Milwaukee — as we’ve been writing all season — isn’t going to entertain the prospect of trading its face of the franchise until it has to," Stein  wrote.

The Bucks star is determined to contend for another championship after their 2021 title run against the Phoenix Suns. However, Milwaukee has not been competitive over the last three years.

The organization has also tried its best to re-tool the roster to give Antetokounmpo the best chance to play for the championship. The Bucks traded for Damian Lillard to give the Greek Freak an All-Star teammate.

Milwaukee also hired Doc Rivers, a head coach with championship experience. Lastly, they moved Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards as he constantly struggles to stay healthy. In exchange, the team received Kyle Kuzma, a one-time champion with the Los Angeles Lakers.

So far, Antetokounmpo has not requested a trade despite the team's lack of postseason success. However, Charania reported that the nine-time All-Star is "open-minded" about what his future in Milwaukee is.
