Not every player can successfully play alongside Stephen Curry.

Playing with the Golden State Warriors superstar requires sacrifice because the entire system revolves around his strengths and tendencies.

The Warriors’ offensive system is defined by Stephen Curry‘s constant off-ball motion, high-speed ball movement, and reliance on complementary three-point shooting.

Not all players fit or willingly sacrifice for this structure, with Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder , and James Wiseman representing examples of difficult fits.

Buddy Hield reveals Stephen Curry never sugarcoats about the Warriors’ offensive system

However, Buddy Hield doesn’t belong on that list of incompatible players.

Beyond expressing happiness with the Warriors and desire to play alongside Curry forever, Hield understands how to operate within the system.

He particularly appreciates Curry’s direct honesty about the team’s structure and priorities.

“Everything is Steph, everything is around him, and he’s not going to sugarcoat that.

“And the other teams know that too. You just got to figure out your ways and stay out of his way, let him be him, and enough of that,” Hield explained.

Hield further explained what other players need to succeed playing with Curry under the Warriors’ system, emphasizing reading the game and capitalizing on the attention Curry commands.

“He attracts so much gravitation, he attracts so much attention. Just be ready to be able to represent on the other end as a trip for a shot or be able to make a quick swing and make a quick read, or else you can make a pass and he might be coming around the corner,” Hield stated.

“So, just reading the game because whatever action he’s in, that’s the best action. Because he’s going to either score or somebody else will score on the team,” he added.

The veteran guard accepts reduced minutes with the Warriors compared to previous tenures with Sacramento and Indiana.

As a rotational player, Hield averaged 22.7 minutes per game last season, producing 11.1 points while shooting 37% from three-point range.

However, he willingly sacrifices both minutes and shot attempts to make the system flourish, expressing readiness to continue that approach next season.
