Bulls believe DeMar DeRozan trade would solidify postseason chances
Mike Dinovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Bulls have their eyes on making the postseason and some members within the front office believe trading for DeMar DeRozan before Thursday’s trade deadline will solidify their positioning, according to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer.

The Spurs are open to trading DeRozan, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

The fit between DeRozan and Chicago is a curious one at first blush given DeRozan's on-the-ball tendencies. However, DeRozan has played off the ball more in recent years and with him showcasing an ability to thrive at the forward positions, slotting him alongside Zach LaVine becomes much easier.

Any moves that Chicago makes before the deadline will be with an eye on improving the team this season. The Bulls are currently 19-23 on the season, sitting in the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference.

One player who could be outbound is Lauri Markkanen, as the franchise is listening to offers on the soon-to-be restricted free agent. However, there’s no word on whether the Spurs have interest in the former No. 7 overall pick.

Miami has internally talked about adding DeRozan, sources tell FortyEightMinutes, though other targets, such as Kyle Lowry, are more pressing. The Heat also remain a frontrunner for LaMarcus Aldridge, though a buyout could be a more likely route to Miami for him. The chances of DeRozan receiving a buyout are extremely low.
