The Bulls have exercised their $2.4MM option on Leonard Miller‘s contract, Spotrac contributor Keith Smith tweets.

Miller was part of the trade that sent Ayo Dosunmu to Minnesota. The 2023 second-round pick played sparingly for the Timberwolves in his first two-and-a-half NBA seasons but got a much longer look with the Bulls after the trade.

The 6’10” forward made 27 appearances for Chicago, including 12 starts, and averaged 11.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 23.1 minutes per game. He shot 55.5 percent overall and  35.6 percent from deep. His production convinced the Bulls’ new front office to pick up that modest option.

Miller’s salary will become fully guaranteed on Tuesday.

Chicago drafted two forwards, Caleb Wilson and Dailyn Swain, in the first round this week. The Bulls also have Matas Buzelis at the small forward spot while Patrick Williams and Isaac Okoro are on the roster as well.

However, Chicago could open up more playing time for Miller depending upon their remaining offseason moves.
