The Chicago Bulls (37-43) picked up a critical 119-111 win over the Miami Heat (36-44) on Wednesday, April 9, behind a dominant triple-double performance from Josh Giddey in a game with major Eastern Conference play-in implications.

Giddey tallied 28 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists for his seventh triple-double of the season, the second-most in a single season by a Bull behind Michael Jordan’s 15 in 1988-89. The win moved Chicago one game ahead of Miami for the No. 9 seed and within a half-game of Atlanta for the eighth seed.

Kevin Huerter added 22 points, Nikola Vucevic posted 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Coby White and Matas Buzelis contributed 18 and 17 points, respectively, as the Bulls won for the eighth time in their last 11 games and completed a season sweep of the Heat.

Miami, which had won seven of its last 10 following a 10-game losing streak, was led by Tyler Herro’s 30 points. Bam Adebayo scored 18, and Davion Mitchell added 17 off the bench.

Andrew Wiggins returned from a six-game absence due to a right hamstring injury, finishing with 14 points. It was only his 16th appearance in 31 games since being acquired from Golden State in the Jimmy Butler trade.

Despite having their top trio of Herro, Adebayo, and Wiggins on the floor together for the first time since March 27, the Heat came up short.

The Bulls saw a 14-point lead in the third quarter trimmed to five after a Mitchell three made it 100-95, but they responded with a 10-2 run to take control and seal the win.

Chicago hosts the Washington Wizards on Friday, April 11, in its final regular-season home game. That same night, Miami visits the New Orleans Pelicans.
