The Bulls are fully guaranteeing the $2.41MM contract of Leonard Miller for next season, Michael Scotto reports for HoopsHype (via Twitter). The team also announced that it has waived guard Kam Jones (Twitter link).
Chicago acquired Miller in the Ayo Dosunmu deal at last year’s trade deadline. The third-year forward averaged career-highs of 11.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 27 games for the Bulls, including 12 starts, while hitting 35.6% of his threes and shooting 55.5% from the field overall. Tuesday marked the official salary guarantee date for Miller.
Jones came to the Bulls in the draft-night trade that sent the 38th pick, which was used to select Braden Smith, to the Pacers. The 24-year-old guard played 37 games for the injured Pacers last season, averaging 3.2 assists to 1.0 turnover in 16.6 minutes per game but struggling with his outside shot and overall efficiency.
The Bulls will have approximately $31MM in space plus the $9.4MM room exception with only two guaranteed roster spots and one two-way contract left to fill, K.C. Johnson of CHSN notes (Twitter link).
