The Chicago Bulls are making a change to one of their two-way roster spots, according to NBA insiders Michael Scotto of HoopsHype and Chris Haynes. Following the news from Haynes that the team would waive big man Adama Sanogo, Scotto reported that guard Jahmir Young would fill the vacant spot.
Sanogo, who has spent most of the past two seasons on a two-way contract with the Bulls after going undrafted out of UConn in 2023, has appeared in just 13 NBA games, logging a total of 87 minutes. He has played a more prominent role with the Windy City Bulls in the G League, earning recognition on the NBAGL All-Rookie Team and the All-NBAGL Third Team last season.
This season, Sanogo has averaged 16.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game over 22 appearances.
Sanogo, who is expected to miss approximately four weeks due to a knee injury, will be replaced by Young, a 24-year-old point guard.
Young, also undrafted after his time at Maryland, has impressed in the G League with the Grand Rapids Gold. In 30 games for Denver’s NBAGL affiliate, he has averaged 22.4 points, 7.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game, shooting .476 from the field, .260 from three-point range, and .783 from the free-throw line.
Should Young officially sign today, he will be eligible to play in up to 16 NBA games for the Bulls this season, a prorated portion of the 50-game limit for two-way players. That number would decrease to 15 games if the deal is finalized after Thursday.
