Bulls Urged To Pursue Move For Wizards’ Kristaps Porzingis
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

One NBA writer believes the Chicago Bulls acquire Washington Wizards power forward Kristaps Porzingis this offseason.

Ryan Dauterive of Sports Mockery thinks the Bulls should let All-Star center Nikola Vucevic walk in free agency and sign Porzingis, who can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if he declines his 2023-24 player option with the Wizards.

“In a perfect world, the Bulls would take full advantage of two teams looking to re-route their future,” Dauterive wrote. “With the Wizards waving the white flag to a complete rebuild, Chicago can snag the young center and secure the position for years. With the Portland Trail Blazers actively seeking a veteran All-Star caliber talent in exchange for the third overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the Bulls can part ways with DeMar DeRozan and see a fresh slate headlined by Zach LaVine, Porzingis, and Scoot Henderson. Yesterday’s news of Charlotte reportedly leaning toward Brandon Miller at the second overall pick should only accelerate the Bulls’ efforts to move into the Blazers’ draft slot and take the leap out of mediocrity.”

Porzingis, 27, averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists for the Wizards this season. He shot 49.8% from the field, 38.5% from beyond the arc and 85.1% from the free-throw line.

“The 2023-24 Chicago Bulls could look as follows with a few splash deals before the season’s start,” Dauterive wrote. ” PG: Scoot Henderson (19), SG: Alex Caruso (29), SF: Zach LaVine (28), PF: Patrick Williams (21) and C: Kristaps Porzingis (27).”

Porzingis is expected to decline his player option for next season worth $36 million and enter free agency this offseason. Let’s see if the Bulls show interest in the former New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks star.

KP has career averages of 19.6 points and 7.9 rebounds with the Knicks, Mavericks and Wizards.
