For the second season in a row, the Duke Blue Devils had their hearts broken in the NCAA Tournament. Led by projected top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Cam Boozer, Duke made it to the Elite Eight, where they lost on a devastating game-winning 35-footer by UConn's Braylon Mullins.
Following the conclusion of the season, Duke is expected to see significant roster turnover, with players either entering the transfer portal or declaring for the draft. On Thursday, the Blue Devils learned about point guard Cayden Boozer's future plans.
Ranked as a composite five-star by 247Sports as a recruit, the twin brother of Cam Boozer had a respectable freshman season in a backcourt filled with veteran guards. He averaged 7.7 points per game, 3.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds, while shooting 50% from the floor and 30.3% from deep.
Unlike his brother, who was a consensus first-team All-American and named the Player of the Year, many viewed Cayden as someone who'd benefit from another year of college. A decision he announced on Instagram.
"RUN IT BACK," wrote Boozer.
While his comment section was flooded with support from Duke fans, his brother was also quite active in expressing his excitement.
Cam Boozer can be seen posting a GIF that says "Run it back" and, in another comment, a series of eyeball emojis. Although Duke now has some clarity on one Boozer twin, the dominant power forward who many expect to declare for the 2026 NBA Draft has yet to decide his plans.
If he does in fact declare for the draft, it'd be the first time that he and his brother are not on the same team.
Cayden will have a chance to be a lead guard for Duke next season, as Isaiah Evans is expected to enter his name into the draft as well. He will also have a chance to redeem himself for the costly turnover that set up UConn's game-winning shot.
As for Cam, he has until April 26 to announce his intentions to enter into this year's draft.
